No amount of thinking your way out of situations can really, truly, change your energy.
It helps – a lot – to work with the mind to shift the deeper belief patterns.
But unresolved trauma also needs healing of the heart. I have spent YEARS healing my inner child wounds. I have reprogrammed my beliefs, I have created affirmations and re-wired the mind through various techniques which have all been super helpful.
But the greatest shifts have been to heal the energetic imprints of the heart and soul. Healing at the energetic levels has created the changes. Releasing the imprints – from this life and other lifetimes- has shifted me on multi-dimensional levels, which has freed me from feeling trapped in turmoil of suffering and discord.
How does it work?
We live in a world that heavily relies on the mind. We are taught to analyze, strategize, overthink, and track our way to happiness. But if you’ve ever tried to think your way out of anxiety or logic your way into feeling content, you already know the truth: the mind is an excellent tool, but can feel hard to master.
When the noise of the world gets too loud, your heart is the ultimate portal to deeper inner peace.
The Great Disconnect: Mind vs. Heart
Our brains are wired for survival, scanning for threats, replaying past mistakes to “fix” them, and obsess over possible future scenarios to keep us safe. It’s exhausting!
The heart, however, operates on a completely different frequency. While the mind is busy fragmenting reality into “good” and “bad,” the open heart integrates. It doesn’t analyze; it experiences.
The Mind: “What if everything goes wrong tomorrow?” The Heart: “You are breathing, safe, and alive right now.”
When we drop our awareness from our heads into our chests, we instantly shift from a state of survival (fight-or-flight) to a state of being (peace).
How the Heart Quiets the Noise
Accessing the heart is also biological. When you focus on your heart center, you activate the parasympathetic nervous system. Here is what happens when you make the shift:
Emotional Alchemy: The heart is where we process heavy emotions like grief, anger, and fear. Instead of trapping them in a loop of mental stories (fixing, analysing), the heart allows them to be felt and therefore dissolved.
Intuitive Clarity: Ever had a “gut feeling” that is also a deep, settled knowing or a sudden lightness in your chest? That’s your heart intelligence also guiding you without the clutter of pro-and-con lists.
The Power of Coherence: When we feel feelings like gratitude or compassion, our heart rhythms become smooth and orderly (heart coherence), sending signals to the brain that it is safe to relax…. And so our bodies respond.
4 Steps to Step Through the Portal
You don’t need to spend years in meditation to find this peace. You can access it right now using a simple four-step practice:
1. Shift Your Awareness
Close your eyes and literally imagine yourself moving down from your brain into the centre of your chest. Place a hand over your heart to physically anchor and draw your attention there.
2. Breathe Through the Center
Imagine your breath is flowing in and out directly through your heart center. Slow it down. Breathe in for four seconds, and breathe out for five seconds. Feel the chest expand and soften.
3. Activate a Love Feeling in the Present
While breathing into your heart, summon a feeling of appreciation, care, or compassion. It could be for a pet, a loved one, a beautiful memory, or simply the quiet peace of the present moment. Let that feeling radiate through your chest. You are safe to do so, right here and now.
4. Bridge the Heart – Mind
Affirm (say out loud or in your head): “I AM peaceful, calm and relaxed. I allow that, right here and now.” This bridges with the mind and thoughts to enhance your felt- feeling experience.
Home is where the Heart Is
Inner peace isn’t the absence of chaos; it’s the presence of connection to your inner core. The next time the world feels overwhelming, stop trying to figure it all out or fix it. Step out of the mind, drop your hands to your chest, and step through the portal…
Your peace has been waiting for you there all along.
With Love
Michelle
